Belmont Pupil Crowned Muay Thai World Champion

Congratulations to one of our talented students, who has achieved an incredible milestone by becoming a WBC Muay Thai World Champion.

Having trained in Muay Thai since the age of eight, they have dedicated years of hard work, determination and commitment to the sport. This year, that dedication was rewarded with selection to represent England at the prestigious WBC Muay Thai World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.

To prepare for the competition, they travelled to Bangkok a week before the tournament to acclimatise to the conditions and train at some of Thailand’s top Muay Thai gyms.

The World Championships brought together more than 1,200 athletes from across the globe, making it one of the sport’s most competitive international events. After an outstanding series of performances, they won the final bout to claim the gold medal, earning the title of World Champion in their age and weight category.

Reflecting on the achievement, they said:

"I've trained Muay Thai since I was eight years old and have worked so hard. To represent England at the WBC Muay Thai World Championships was an honour, and winning the gold medal and becoming World Champion for my age and weight category was a dream come true."
